Nordic Semiconductor today announces that it has joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), the world’s largest industry coalition dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in global supply chains. As a member of the RBA, Nordic has made a commitment to support the rights and well-being of workers and communities worldwide affected by the global supply chain. Members are held accountable to a common Code of Conduct, and are required to undertake continual improvement in the social, environmental, and ethical responsibility of their supply chains through training and assessment.
The standards set out in the RBA Code of Conduct reference international norms and standards including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO International Labour Standards, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, as well as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Social Accountability International SA Standards. Its more than 170 members share a vision to drive sustainable value for workers, the environment, and business throughout the global supply chain.
The world’s leading Bluetooth® Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) semiconductor chip company, Nordic Semiconductor has evolved into a wireless IoT company able to ‘connect anything’ via ultra-low power, short-range wireless technologies such as Bluetooth LE; or low-power, long-range wireless technologies such as LTE-M and NB-IoT. With more than 1000 employees across the globe, and solutions used by the world’s leading brands, social and environmental responsibility has increasingly become interwoven into Nordic’s corporate strategy.
“Nordic has used the RBA’s Code of Conduct as our compass towards our sustainability goals since 2007, and aligned our policies with its principles while engaging with our suppliers for improved CSR performance,” says Ebbe Rømcke, Senior Vice President Quality & Sustainability, Nordic Semiconductor. “As we grow and develop as a company, we recognize the continuous need to consider our impact on the environment, and on the communities in which we work. In joining the RBA now, we want to reaffirm and emphasize our commitment.
“We believe our IoT solutions can strongly contribute to sustainability through efficient resource usage, and have a responsibility to minimize our footprint on the environment and engage in ethical business practices all along our supply chain.”
