Attendees are invited to live demonstrations of Nordic’s existing and emerging wireless technology for smart energy applications

Nordic Semiconductor will demonstrate its wide-ranging portfolio of low power wireless IoT technology at the upcoming Enlit Europe 2022 exhibition. Staged at Frankfurt Messe in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 29 to December 1, the exhibition and energy summit will bring together more than 15,000 attendees and 700 exhibitors to showcase the cutting edge technology that will oversee the energy transition from fossil-based systems of energy and consumption to renewable energy sources.

Making smart grids smarter

Nordic invites new and existing customers to come to its booth (Stand 12.1.G150) to see first-hand how the company’s technology and expertise is powering the utility sector and contributing to making electricity grids smarter. For example, the company’s Bluetooth LE and cellular IoT solutions are already deployed in a wide range of applications from smart meters and submetering for commercial buildings and the smart home, to telemetry for critical gas/water/electricity and smart city infrastructure, as well as smart photovoltaic (PV) inverters, surge arrestors, leakage detectors and connected electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The goal is to deliver clean, affordable energy to everyone
Lorenzo Amicucci, Nordic Semiconductor

“Enlit Europe is one of the most important exhibitions for the utility market and its transition to renewable energy,” says Lorenzo Amicucci, Business Development Manager at Nordic Semiconductor. “The goal is to deliver clean, affordable energy to everyone which is a sustainability initiative fully endorsed by Nordic Semiconductor. We welcome all visitors to our stand to explore how Nordic’s Bluetooth LE, Matter, Thread, Wi-Fi and Cellular IoT technology can help the energy sector deliver on this vision.”

Nordic Field Application Engineers and Product Management will be on hand to conduct demonstrations focusing on Bluetooth LE, Thread, LTE-M, and NB-IoT, as well as advanced protocols such as LwM2M and Matter, and their application across the smart energy sector. The company will also demonstrate how it is bringing its renowned low power wireless capability to Wi-Fi following the recent introduction of the nRF7002 ultra low power, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 companion IC.

Reshaping the energy sector

The Nordic team will also be available to discuss how the world’s first non-cellular 5G technology standard, DECT NR+ could help reshape the energy sector. DECT NR+ will allow utilities to easily set up, manage, and own a private 5G wireless IoT network and connect millions of devices at very low cost of ownership. And by employing mesh technology the network is completely decentralized which not only makes it very easy to add devices, but also means there is no single point of failure. This means if a device goes down it will automatically be re-routed around by the mesh network.

“Thanks to the IoT it is possible to improve energy efficiency at every level from street lighting in the smart city to critical grid infrastructure,” says Amicucci. “Nordic’s low power wireless connectivity solutions are a key enabler, helping make infrastructure more robust and secure, bringing down the cost of operations, and most importantly for achieving a more sustainable future.”
