Nordic Semiconductor will present its cutting edge low power wireless innovations and IoT solutions through a series of interactive demonstrations at the upcoming embedded world Exhibition & Conference. The three day event will be staged at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, Germany from March 14 to 16, 2023, and will once again bring together the embedded systems community to showcase the very latest hardware, software, services and tools.
Nordic welcomes customers to its booth (Stand 310, Hall 4A) for personal demonstrations across the full breadth of its wireless offering. For example, visitors to the booth can request a demonstration on how to control Matter-enabled smart home accessories on a Matter network using both Apple and Google ecosystems. The demonstration uses both Thread and Wi-Fi protocols, as well as Nordic’s brand new nRF7002 DK for the nRF7002 Wi-Fi 6 Companion IC.
For Nordic’s market-leading Bluetooth® LE portfolio, demonstrations are available for Bluetooth Mesh, Bluetooth Direction Finding and the Nordic Distance Toolbox, as well as Bluetooth LE Audio using the nRF5340 Audio DK for high quality, low-latency wireless audio.
In cellular IoT, the capabilities of Nordic’s nRF9160 SiP, which boasts an integrated LTE-M/NB-IoT modem and GNSS as well as best-in-class low power consumption, will be featured. This will include industry specific demonstrations showing how nRF Cloud Location Services, which include cell, GPS and Wi-Fi based locationing, can support asset tracking applications. The ‘ThingyWorld’ demonstration will show how customers can combine the Nordic Thingy:91 cellular IoT prototyping platform, the nRF9160 DK, and the company’s nRF Cloud Location Services to support cellular IoT applications demanding fast and power-efficient location details. DECT-NR+ devices will also be connected to Thingy:World. DECT-NR+ is a non-cellular 5G radio standard used for self-healing, decentralized, and autonomous mesh networks.
Other demonstrations will include integrated machine learning (ML) from Nordic partner Edge Impulse directly on the Nordic Thingy:53 IoT prototyping platform. The nRF Edge Impulse app makes it possible to train and deploy embedded ML models on the Nordic Thingy:53 using Edge Impulse Studio. Or visit Nordic’s booth for an introduction to the company’s latest addition to its Power Management IC (PMIC) portfolio, the nPM1300. The nPM1300 provides highly efficient power regulation for Nordic’s nRF52 and nRF53 Series SoCs. There will be a new demonstration to show accurate and inexpensive fuel gauging to determine a battery's state-of-charge and how to get accurate battery characterization.
Meanwhile, Nordic’s technical, development and engineering team will also contribute to embedded world 2023’s supporting conference program, delivering presentations including ‘The rapid evolution of IoT embedded development’, ‘Designing secure low-power wireless products’, ‘DECT NR+: Enabling high-speed and low latency 5G mesh’, and ‘Five essential building blocks for cellular IoT development’.
“This year’s embedded world Exhibition & Conference promises to be Nordic’s busiest ever, with a wide range of demonstrations and conference presentations,” says Geir Langeland, EVP Sales & Marketing with Nordic Semiconductor. “It has been a year of R&D and innovation for Nordic like no other before, and we look forward to sharing with customers and potential customers our full suite of wireless technologies to help them accelerate their product development efforts and achieve the full potential of the IoT.”
